General H.I.P. Process
The process for applying to the Home Improvement Program is relatively straight forward, but questions may arise throughout the process. It may take time to procure certain documents, some documents may not apply to you specifically, and it may take time to bid out contractors for the work to start.

Call the LHDC to have us add your name to the H.I.P Waitlist

When your name is reached on the waitlist, you will receive a phone call and a letter from us

Once contacted, you will be granted a two-week window to obtain all required documents

When you have gathered all documents outlined in the letter, call the LHDC to schedule an appointment with us to begin the application process

Once all materials are submitted to the LHDC, we will review the application and call you to
a) grant an award letter
b) inform you of a denial letter or
c) request more information or documentation to make their determination.

If awarded, schedule a time to finalize your application via signature and schedule a home inspection conducted by us

The home inspection conducted by LHDC will determine the scope of work to be completed

We will create a bid-package and provide the package to you, the homeowner, to approach contractor's with

You must solicit bids from contractors, and the LHDC must receive three bids from you, the homeowner

The homeowner and the LHDC select the winning contractor

A contract is signed and work begins within 60 days of signing the contract

The LHDC conducts a post-work inspection upon completion of the work

The contractor is paid by the LHDC permitting the completion of the work is done to the satisfaction and fulfillment of the bid-package outlined in the contract
